Alaska: The Frozen Frontier

Viewing Alaska from a Seaplane

Alaska is a place that blew my mind. I journeyed to Alaska on a cruise from Washington. When we stopped in Juneau we took a tram up the mountainside and explored some trails. Next was the main event, the seaplane ride over mountain tops and glaciers. This is the best experience I've ever had. It was so amazing to see everything from an aerial view. It was beyond breathtaking. After that we explored the town, which was very charming. Then we headed to Skagway, which was a nice small town where we took a train to Canada and back. The scenery was phenomenal. I can't wait to go back to Alaska one day. It's definitely a state I will never forget.

If you want to visit Alaska, here's a list of possible things to see and do:
  1. Denali National Park: Explore the stunning wilderness of Denali, home to North America's tallest peak, Denali (formerly known as Mount McKinley). Take a bus tour or hike along scenic trails to spot wildlife such as grizzly bears, wolves, and moose.

  2. Glacier Bay National Park: Cruise through Glacier Bay to witness towering glaciers calving into the sea, surrounded by majestic mountains and pristine wilderness. It's a prime spot for wildlife viewing, including humpback whales, sea lions, and bald eagles.

  3. Kenai Fjords National Park: Embark on a boat tour to marvel at the dramatic fjords, tidewater glaciers, and abundant marine life of Kenai Fjords National Park. Keep an eye out for orcas, puffins, and sea otters along the way.

  4. Northern Lights Viewing: Experience the awe-inspiring beauty of the Aurora Borealis dancing across the night sky. Fairbanks and the remote areas of the Interior offer some of the best opportunities for Northern Lights viewing, especially during the winter months.

  5. Whale Watching: Take a whale-watching excursion from towns like Juneau or Seward to witness the annual migration of humpback whales. These majestic creatures can often be seen breaching and feeding in Alaska's nutrient-rich waters.

  6. Alaska Railroad: Ride the Alaska Railroad through stunning landscapes, from Anchorage to Fairbanks or Seward to Denali. The scenic train journey offers panoramic views of mountains, rivers, and forests.

  7. Fishing Adventures: Cast your line in some of the world's best fishing grounds. Whether you're into salmon fishing, halibut fishing, or fly-fishing for trout, Alaska's rivers, lakes, and coastal waters offer abundant opportunities for anglers of all skill levels.

  8. Dog Sledding: Experience the thrill of dog sledding, a quintessential Alaskan activity. Visit a dogsled kennel to meet the mushers and their teams of sled dogs, or take a guided tour through snow-covered landscapes.

  9. Native Cultural Experiences: Learn about Alaska's rich indigenous heritage through cultural performances, art exhibits, and visits to native villages. Explore the Alaska Native Heritage Center in Anchorage or attend traditional festivals and ceremonies.

  10. Outdoor Adventures: Embark on a wide range of outdoor activities, including hiking, kayaking, glacier trekking, and wildlife photography. With its vast wilderness areas and rugged terrain, Alaska offers endless opportunities for adventure seekers.
