The final state, the big kahuna, everything was leading up to Hawaii. I set a goal of visiting all 50 states before I hit my 30th birthday and I'm proud to say that I've achieved just that. As I landed in Hawaii, two days before my 30th birthday, I was overcome with emotions. I was thinking, did I really just do that? I did! I was crying when we landed, but beyond that, the swell of so many emotions together was unlike any other moment in my life. I accomplished a huge goal that was many years in the making.
I have to point out that none of this would've been possible without the help and company of my mom. My mom set out to achieve this goal with me. She was planning every road trip and making sure we were seeing all the best stuff. I'm so grateful to her and I can't wait to continue to our next goal of visiting all the national parks. We're halfway there!
Anyway, I did a cruise in Hawaii that went to four islands: Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island. We did so much on every island that I've decided to make a blog post for each one. Below are some big things to do in the Hawaiian islands but more details to come in those individual posts!
If you want to visit Hawaii, here's a list of possible things to see and do:
Visit Pearl Harbor: Explore the historic site and pay respects at the USS Arizona Memorial.
Hike in Waimea Canyon: Known as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific," it offers breathtaking views and excellent hiking trails.
Snorkel or Dive in Molokini Crater: Experience vibrant marine life in this partially submerged volcanic crater.
Road to Hana: Drive or tour along this scenic road on Maui, known for its waterfalls, lush landscapes, and black sand beaches.
Mauna Kea Summit: Drive to the summit (if accessible) or visit the visitor center for stargazing. It's renowned for its clear skies and observatories.
Volcanoes National Park: Explore the dynamic landscapes created by active volcanoes on the Big Island, including Kilauea and Mauna Loa.
Luau Experience: Enjoy a traditional Hawaiian feast accompanied by music and hula dancing, often held at resorts or cultural centers.
Surfing in Oahu's North Shore: Known for its big waves, this area is a mecca for surfers and hosts competitions like the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.
Visit Haleakalā National Park: Witness the sunrise or sunset from the summit of Haleakalā on Maui, and explore the park's unique volcanic landscapes.
Polynesian Cultural Center: Learn about Hawaiian and Polynesian culture through interactive exhibits, performances, and demonstrations.
