You can't tell me the outline of the state of Kentucky doesn't look like fried chicken because it totally does. What a perfect state for Colonel Sanders to launch his fried chicken empire than a state that looks like fried chicken. Yes, this was a must see sight for me. This was not a want but a need. I needed to go to the KFC museum. Growing up sometimes I would request KFC for my birthday because mac and cheese is my favorite food and fried chicken is just so tasty. Seeing birthplace of KFC was definitely a highlight of this trip. Kentucky in general is such a wonderful state, I would definitely go back. After visiting the museum and picking up food at KFC, we drove to our cabin in Cumberland Falls State Resort Park.

Fun fact about Cumberland Falls is one of the few places in the world where moonbows can be reliably observed. A moonbow, also known as a lunar rainbow, is essentially a rainbow that is produced by the light of the moon rather than the sun. We found this out when we got to our cabin and that night there happened to be the possibility of seeing the moonbow since it was almost a full moon and it was a clear night. Let me tell you, that was something unexpected but so magical. Please enjoy the very blurry photo of the moonbow that I tried to capture with my phone camera. This is something you should definitely try and see if you are near Corbin, KY. Just make sure you check the moonbow visibility calendar.

The next morning we headed to Mammoth Cave National Park. We arrived early to go on our tour inside one of the caves. We boarded a bus to this wooded area and after a short walk we were at the cave entrance. Let me tell you, this was one of the coolest things I've ever done in my entire life. I can't recommend this National Park enough. The guides went in first and lit the cave up so you could see every part. The history behind the caves in Kentucky is so fascinating. I ended up learning a lot about the cave wars in Kentucky and how the National Park came to be. Truly an amazing experience, I would do it again in a heartbeat.
