Nevada: Ten Dollar Tables and Tahoe

The first time I went to Las Vegas we were on a massive roadtrip from California to Wyoming and my mom insisted I see Vegas. I protested because on the surface it just didn't really seem like my vibe. We basically ran through it and got a frozen cocktail then went back to the RV campsite. I didn't understand the appeal of Las Vegas till I went back this year (2024). On my 2nd go around, I walked the whole strip and went in every casino and really explored. I really enjoyed the theming of each hotel/casino. I went to the Neon Sign Museum which was super cool. One day we got out of the city center and went to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and I absolutely loved it. It was too cold and windy to walk around much but it was so beautiful.

The next morning, before driving back to California, we went to one of the coolest places, Omega Mart. Omega Mart in Las Vegas is not a normal grocery store – it's an immersive art installation. Created by the art collective Meow Wolf, Omega Mart features surreal and interactive exhibits, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy, and inviting people to explore a mystery. I definitely would do this again.

Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is a frequent vacation spot in Nevada for me. I go there with my mom and her friends and we always have the best time. One year it even snowed while I was there and that was the first time I truly experienced snow. It was magical. I never really know what is going to happen when I go to Tahoe but there always seems to be a new story that comes out of those trips. I'll have to delve into that further in a later post.
